Texas Tour
Erin and I have found our way back to the great state of Texas. This weekend we enjoyed some incredible shows. Friday at noon we played for the Whittharral Elementary Schools. The almost 200 students there seemed to really enjoy our music. Friday night we played for the West Texas Bluegrass and traditional music association. http://www.westtexasbluegrasstraditionalmusicassociation.com/ We enjoyed playing to a full house there. We also enjoyed seeing some of our classmates from South Plains College. We enjoyed a late night Ihop trip with them just like back in our school days :).
Erin and I enjoyed a Saturday off by drinking coffee, meeting up with friends, listening to live jazz music and I got to lay down some awesome fiddle tracks for Erin's dulcimer project she's been working on. Our evening was filled with attending a concert and of course jamming.
Sunday we had two terrific shows, one at Smyer TX and one in Levelland TX. We had a friend of ours Matt Saed join us on bass for both shows, it was a real treat! We are having a hoot seeing everyone we met while we were at school here. It's just been fun!
Today(monday) and tomorrow we will be teaching a couple of classes at South Plains College. We are always thrilled to be able to share our touring stories with students! The information we learned at this school has been so valuable in our careers it's amazing!
We managed to sell out of our new CD's this weekend. Hoping our next shipment really does come today like it should! It's pretty awesome to say we're sold out :). Erin and I will be in Texas all this week. Check the website for our full schedule www.scenicroots.com.
Next week we are heading for Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Arkansas, Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana. I'm still working on filling in some dates...of course my hopes at planning ahead are now gone :).
I guess that's probably a long enough blog for now... thanks for coming to shows and supporting live music. See you down the road!

Home again, On the road again
Erin and I had a wonderful week in the state of New Mexico. The weather was CRAZY! We experienced wind, rain, A BLIZZARD, and beautiful 75 degree weather. Our coffee shop show in Clayton, NM was a hoot! We had a sold out show and really enjoyed ourselves. It was a pleasure to get to play a few songs with Bryan Kimsey a great guitar player and instrument repair man!
On Sunday out there we enjoyed attending and playing for a wonderful little country church. They opened their arms wide for Erin and I and we enjoyed our morning with them.
Tuesday morning we woke up to a surprise blizzard! We were then snowed in for 2 days! CRAZY! New Mexico really gets into their wind, I tell you I had never felt wind like that before. At the house we were staying out they even had shingles blowing off the house! That's legit wind. Thursday night we played at a bakery in Los Alamos. Again another very full house with standing room in the kitchen! On Friday night we played for one more packed house in Los Alamos at their Mexican Restaurant in town! A special thanks goes out to the Dowells who hosted us and did an awesome job promoting our shows!
We are so thankful to everyone who helps spread the word, finds us shows, hosts us and helps to make our careers a success. We couldn't do it without you!
Erin and I are now enjoying 4 days at home. Being at home is supposed to be restful and relaxing right? Well...we have managed to pack so much into these few days that I think we are going to be completely exhausted by the time we hit the road Thursday morning.
This weekend we are playing shows in the West Texas area. We have lots of shows booked so check our schedule! www.scenicroots.com
I had better get back to the grind of booking and confirming shows. Working on filling in our April Schedule then moving into May-June-July and August. Time is flying by, thanks for the fun.
Be safe and Keep Picking,
Amber

I have an open SATURDAY in the Baton Rouge/ New Orleans area. That's April 14th. Then I have a Tuesday open in the Tallahassee, FL area that will be the 17th of April. Then I'm looking for something in the Birmingham, AL or Little Rock AR area for Tuesday April 24th.
If you have any ideas or suggestions I'd sure love to hear about them!!!!! scenicroots@live.com or 785-614-3817
If you want a new CD you can mail me a check to 420 E. 13th Concordia, KS 66901 for $17 or give me a ring and I can charge your credit card. Plans are coming together and we are excited to see what the rest of the year has in store for us.
This weekend we are driving out to Clayton, NM for a concert on Saturday night. We will hang in the area and then drive to Los Alamos, NM for concerts Thursday and Friday of next week. Can't wait to see everyone there.

Seattle
Hello there Friends, Family and Fans.....
We are writing from the busy downtown Seattle, WA. Erin and I have had a fabulous week here in the area. We spent last weekend attending the bluegrass festival "Wintergrass". What a wonderful experience that was. Top notch music, great sound reinforcement, a wonderful facility and our favorite world class jamming. We didn't get much sleep but we sure had fun seeing shows, working volunteer shifts and playing music in the halls. We ran into so many friends we knew, had a really nice time catching up a bit.
Since the festival we've been staying with a fantastic host Max Beery. He has this house in Seattle where people come and go at all hours of the day and night. You never know when you wake up who will be there or not. We've met lots of friendly folks, even learned about silver the other night!
Today we are planning to go see the famous Pike's market, maybe go catch a fish :). Tonight we are going to see some theater production. Tomorrow we are looking forward to seeing the ocean, and eating fresh fish. Our friend Chris will be showing us around tomorrow. Then tomorrow night if you're in the area we are splitting the bill with some awesome musicians at the Gypsy Cafe. I'm sure it's going to be a fun time for us as the musicians and you as the audience.
Erin and I have been talking with friends back home in Concordia this week to start planning out CD release party! That's right folks we have a big bash planned for next Friday night March 9th. We are going to play 3 shows at Jitters Coffee House, noon, 6pm and 9pm. For the 9pm show we are offering VIP seating so you're sure to get a spot. The $10.00 VIP seat is going to come with many fun perks from the band so be sure to call Amber today 785-614-3817 to secure your spot!!!!!
Speaking of the new CD we are SOOOO close to our release that we are freaking out with all of the work left to do...radio, website updates, online markets ect ect. We will have a very busy 2 weeks.
2 weeks from today we will be headed out for our Southern spring tour...Texas and New Mexico you had better get ready for us! We can't wait to see you!!!
Thanks for tuning in....we are having a wonderful trip and can't wait to get home to Kansas.

A beautiful drive
On Monday we took a scenic adventure through Northern California. For years we have heard about the amazing red wood trees, SO we took a day of driving to go see them.
We started our morning early in Stonyford, California. If you have ever been to Stonyford then you know that it takes a while to drive out of the "foot hills" to get back to a main road! For us Kansans those little foot hills seemed like big ol' mountains :). About 4 hours after we had our start we hit the COAST! That's right folks Kansans seeing the big ol ocean. What a majestic beauty. The big rocks, the huge waves and TSUNAMI zones!!! CRAZY!!!!! We took highway 1 and then caught up with highway 101. It was a gorgeous drive! At one point I thought the curvy roads would never end, but when we made it to the big drive through tree that was pretty awesome. It's a good thing we were in the car, I don't think the van would have fit through!
At one point in our journey there were elk laying on the side of the road, of course the entire highway of cars had stopped to snap a few pictures, so we did too. Those animals are SO big!
The weather was mostly good, a little bit of sunshine, lots of low lying clouds and just a few showers. It was a fun but long day for the Scenic Roots crew.
Tomorrow we are heading up to Seattle, Washington to attend the Wintergrass bluegrass festival. We have heard about this festival for years so we are feeling excited to go see the action and hopefully get in some awesome picking! Next week we will work on booking shows and perform a number of times in the Seattle area. If you know of anyone in the area send them our way, we would love to meet them and would really love to have some awesome shows to send us home.
Thanks for the support and I will check in from Seattle.
